How to Add the Genesis Framework to a WordPress Website

The Genesis framework is one of the most popular WordPress frameworks available today. It is required for the themes available at Studiopress.com, so you will need to have it if you want to install any of the child themes that are displayed on their site.

Click here to get the Genesis Framework

Now that you have acquired this framework, it’s time to install it on your site. We will assume that you have already downloaded it to your computer. If not, head back to Studiopress.com and download it. While you’re on the themes menu, it may also be a good time to learn how to delete a theme in WordPress.

Step 1: Click Appearance in the left column, then click the Themes option.

click appearance, then click themes

Step 2: Click the Upload button at the top of the window.

Step 3: Click the Upload Theme button.

Step 4: Click the Choose file button.

click the choose file button

Step 5: Browse the Genesis zip file on your computer, click it once to select it, then click the Open button.

select the genesis file, then click open

Step 6: Click the Install Now button.

Step 7: Click the Activate button to make the Genesis framework your current theme.

Note that, while you can use the Genesis framework on its own, Studiopress doesn’t recommend it. You can click here to look for some Genesis child themes to install on top of the Genesis framework.
