How to Use a Child Theme With the Genesis Framework in WordPress 4.6.1

Our website, answeryourtech.com, runs on the Genesis WordPress framework. This is a very popular, simple to use, fast way to have your own professional-looking WordPress site.

We previously discussed installing the Genesis framework on your website, and the steps in this article will rely on those steps having already been completed. So if you have found a Studiopress child theme that you want to use, then you can read that article to install the Genesis framework first, as it is a prerequisite for any Genesis child theme.

Once you have the Genesis framework in place on your site, you can continue below.

How to Install a Genesis Child Theme in WordPress

When you are first setting up a WordPress site, it’s likely that you will try out a lot of themes. Find out how to delete a theme in WordPress and start removing the ones that you aren’t going to use.

Step 2: Click the My Studiopress link at the top-right corner of the window, then click the cloud icon next to the child theme that you would like to install.

Step 1: Navigate to the Studiopress website, sign into your Studiopress account, then purchase the child theme that you would like to use.

If you have another website that you need to customize with a theme, then check out the rest of the Studiopress gallery.

Every WordPress theme is going to handle widgets and menus differently, so you might find that your site looks a little different after you have activated the new theme. You can visit our Sidebar archive to see ways that you can customize how widgets appear on your site.
