How to Add a Button to a Post in WordPress

While one of the easier ways that you can add a link to another Web page is to create a hyperlink in the text of your post, an option that you might prefer is to add a button instead. A button is much more obvious than a hyperlink, and it can increase the number of clicks that you get on a link.

With the new Gutenberg editor in WordPress, adding a button has become a much simpler process than it used to be. A button is included as one of the blocks that you can add, and you have the ability to customize the button text, the hyperlink for the page that opens when the button is clicked, and you can even choose the color of the button and the color of your text.

How to Add a Button Block in WordPress with the Gutenberg Editor

The steps in this article were performed in the 5.2.2 version of WordPress, using the Gutenberg post editor.

Step 1: Open the admin section of your site at (yourdomain.com)/wp-admin.

Step 2: Hover over the Posts tab at the left side of the window and either create a new post or open an existing one.

Step 3: Click at the point in the post where you wish to add the button block, then click the + sign.

Step 4: Scroll down and choose the Layout Elements tab.

Step 5: Click the Button option.

Step 6: Click on the button and enter the display text, then add the URL for the page that will open when the button is clicked.

Step 7: Choose the button and text color from the column at the right side of the window.
