How to Delete a Page in WordPress Quickly (Just 4 Steps!)

The ability to create pages in WordPress allows you to create locations for important information like your contact page or your privacy policy, without including those pages in your blogroll. But you might need to know how to delete a page in WordPress if you discover that you no longer want it.

These pages can be updated in similar ways as your posts, making it easy to ensure that important things are kept current.

Many WordPress installations are going to include some default or sample pages that you probably don’t need, or you might create some pages that seemed important at the time, but you never actually used or published.

The steps for deleting pages in WordPress are to go to the Pages tab in the WordPress interface, hover over the page you want to delete, then select the Trash link.

But your needs may change over time, and you might find that a current page is no longer necessary.

How to Remove a WordPress Page (Guide with Pictures)

The steps in this article were performed in WordPress version 5.1., but work similarly in most older versions of WordPress as well as newer versions of WordPress, like 5.9.

Step 1: Sign into the admin section of your WordPress site.

You can navigate to your admin section by going to yoursitename.com/wp-admin.

Step 2: Select the Pages tab at the left side of the window.

Step 3: Hover over the page that you wish to delete, then click the Trash option.

If this is the first page that you have deleted, then you will notice that there is now a Trash link above your page list.

If you click that link you will see all of your trashed pages. You can restore a deleted page by hovering over that page, then selecting the Restore option.

Alternatively, you can permanently delete that page if you are certain that you won’t need it again in the future. Just click Delete permanently to remove that deleted page from the trash folder for good.

While this guide has focused on how to remove a single page or post when you click the Trash button as you hover over the page, you can also perform bulk actions that allow you to delete multiple pages at the same time.

When you are on the Pages menu in the WordPress admin dashboard you can check the box to the left of each of the pages that you would like to delete from the site.

You can then click the Bulk Actions drop down above the list of pages, then choose the Move to Trash option.

You can then click Trash at the top of the window to permanently delete those pages and start fresh.

If you want to select all of the pages in the trash you can click the box to the left of the word “Title” to quickly select all of them, then use the “Delete Permanently” option from the Bulk Actions menu.
