How to Insert a Table in WordPress

One of the more common elements that you will find in posts that are reviewing products or comparing them is a table that lists all of the features of each of the products. There are many plugins, like Tablepress, that can help you create beautiful, complex tables.

But you may not want to install another plugin on your site, or you may be looking for a simple way to add a basic table. Fortunately, with the Gutenberg editor in WordPress, you are able to add a table block to one of your posts or pages.

How to Add a Table Block in WordPress

The steps in this article were performed on a WordPress site using the Gutenberg editor. Note that you will have a couple of table styles to select from, as well as a handful of options for a background color for the table. You could also choose to add some table formatting to your style.css file and apply a CSS style to the table as well.

Step 1: Sign into the admin section of your site at (yourdomain.com)/wp-admin.

Step 2: Hover over the Posts tab and choose to create a new post or open an existing one.

Step 3: Click at the point in the post where you wish to add the table, then click the + button to add a new block.

Step 4: Select the Formatting tab.

Step 5: Click the Table button.

Step 6: Specify the number of rows and columns, then click the Create button.

Step 7: Format the appearance of the table using the options in the column at the right side of the window, then add your table data.

Want to add the HTML table code to the post yourself? Find out how to switch to the code editor in WordPress so that you can enter HTML code in your post.
