When you add a contact form to your website you are giving your visitors a way to provide feedback. Whether that’s in response to one of the posts on your site, or if they are requesting something from you, this can be one of the more valuable elements of your site.
But managing that feedback can become a bit difficult, especially if there is a lot of it. Or perhaps the form that you have added includes some fields with very specific information that you want to make sure isn’t lost in communication. One way to simplify the process of handling this feedback is to simply export all of it as a file. Our guide below will show you how to use default functionality in WordPress that will generate a CSV export of the feedback on your site.
The steps in this article were performed on a WordPress site running WordPress 5.2.2. Note that if you have multiple contact forms on your site that populate the Feedback tab you will be able to either export all of that feedback together, or selectively for each individual form.
Step 1: Sign into the admin section of your site at (yourdomain.com)/wp-admin.
Step 2: Hover over the Feedback tab, then choose the Export CSV option.
Step 3: Click the dropdown menu to the right of Select feedback to download, then click either the All posts option or the specific feedback option that you want. You can then click the Download button.
The file that you download is going to be of the .csv file type. This file can be opened in text editors like Notepad, but it can also be opened in Microsoft Excel.
