It is very common for WordPress options to have a column, either at the left or right side of the page, that includes different sections of information. This general location is called the “sidebar”, and each “section” in the sidebar is called a “widget.”
Certain types of websites will want different types of widgets in their sidebars, so it is very likely that you have widgets in your sidebar that you don’t want. Our guide below will show you how to delete these widgets.
Step 1: Hover over Appearance in the left column, then click the Widgets option.
Step 2: Click the arrow to the right of the widget that you want to remove, then click the Delete option.
Repeat step 2 for each additional sidebar widget that you would like to remove.
