When you are writing a post in WordPress, there are a lot of options in the column at the right side of the window. These options include things like categories, tags, the featured image and more that you can use to customize the post.
But if you aren’t using all of those sections, you might want to get rid of them to reduce the amount of clutter on the screen. Our guide below will show you how to remove these sections.
The steps in this article were performed in WordPress 5.1.1, in the Gutenberg post editor. By completing the steps in this guide you will be removing some of the sections from the column that appears at the right side of the window when you are writing or editing a post.
Step 1: Sign into your WordPress admin dashboard at (yourdomain.com)/wp-admin.
Step 2: Hover over the Posts option in the left column, then select the Add New option.
Step 3: Click the button with the three dots at the top-right of the window.
Step 4: Click Options at the bottom of the menu.
Step 5: Click the box to the left of each option under Document Panels that you don’t want to show. Any section without a check mark won’t be shown.
There is another post-related menu that you can customize as well. Find out how to adjust the display setting for the menu that shows all of your posts if you wan to see more or less information about each post.
